In addition to donating a portion of its profits to help fight breast cancer, Tiger Fuel has customized three of its propane trucks in pink, the official color of the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

The trucks—including one in Charlottesville, Lovingston and Appomattox— carry the American Breast Cancer Foundation logo, which has been embedded with the message “I Can Beat Cancer.”

The truck that services Charlottesville carries another special designation: “Miss Carolyn” is emblazoned across the front of the vehicle, in honor of Tiger Fuel employee Carolyn Shifflett, a breast cancer survivor.

“Just like thousands of families nationwide, our family at Tiger Fuel has been affected in a personal way by breast cancer,” said Stuart Lowry, Director of Marketing for Tiger Fuel. “It is an honor and privilege to be a part of this wonderful campaign to increase awareness about the disease, promote early detection, and raise much-needed funds to help the Foundation in its mission.”

As part of the campaign, Tiger Fuel will be donating one cent per gallon delivered by the customized trucks with a minimum donation of $5,000 per truck.

The donations made through Propane for Life will support the Key to Life Program, which provides direct assistance in the form of financial grants for annual mammogram screenings and breast cancer diagnostic tests. Each year, approximately 8,000 women and men nationwide receive services through the Key to Life Program.

Tiger Fuel joins other propane companies across the country to customize parts of their fleet for deliveries within local communities as part of the Propane for Life “Pink Truck” Campaign.

“We have received an incredible amount of support for the American Breast Cancer Foundation from the propane industry in the Propane for Life Campaign,” said Dodie Lazzati, Development Director at the American Breast Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to providing direct financial assistance to uninsured and underserved individuals for diagnostic tests to aid in the early detection and survival of breast cancer.

“Using the customized pink trucks is a great way to raise interest and awareness for women to seek out mammograms in early detection of breast cancer,” said Lazzati. “The American Breast Cancer Foundation can now reach out to women in Virginia, thanks to Tiger Fuel joining Propane for Life.”
